Proctor Band Salutes Veterans in Concert at Post

Veterans couldn't go to Proctor High School for the annual Veterans Day Concert due to renovations at the school, so the Proctor Road Band came to Utica Post 229 to perform patriotic tunes during the post's monthly dinner meeting Nov. 3.

Conducted by Proctor Band Director Jeffrey Corigliano, the 21-piece band received a rousing, standing ovation after presenting a concert of American music. Selections ranged from the Star Spangled Banner to a thematic salute to branches of the Armed Forces to a medley of Frank Sinatra tunes.

In addition to members of the Legion, Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion, parents and family ot the performing students were part of the cheering audience.

As the applause subsided, Post Commander Chris Urban declared it an outstanding performance and announced that the post would be making a donation to the school's Fine Arts Department.
