Join Us on Veterans Day, Nov. 11

Members of Utica Post 229 are encouraged to attend the post activities on Veterans Day on Thursday, Nov. 11.

The post is coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at monuments and memorials around town to remember the sacrifices of war veterans.

“Come join us for a time of remembrance and camaraderie,” invited Post Commander Tony Palladino.

“We’ll begin with coffee and doughnuts at 9 a.m. A bus will leave the post at 10:15 to take members of the Legion, the Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion to the ceremonies. Then we’ll return to the post by 1 p.m. for lunch.”

The first wreath will be laid at 11 a.m. at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument on Oneida Square. Then the ceremony will be repeated, in order, at: the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the POW-MIA Memorial and the World War I-World War II-Korean War monument, all on the Memorial Parkway. Following those will be the Purple Heart Park in West Utica and the Veterans Memorial at the Main Post Office in East Utica.
